Overview

About this range

A screen in a vehicle earns its place in two ways. It gives the operator a channel for service messages, fares and route changes, and it gives advertisers an audience that is sitting still for the length of the journey. Bus and coach operators, taxi fleets and transport media owners all use the same basic idea at different sizes.

The range lists seven sizes from 10.1 to 32 inch, a stated brightness of 350 cd/m² and a Full HD (1920 × 1080) resolution reference. The displays run an Android configuration, offer Wi-Fi and 4G connection options, mount from the ceiling or on a pole, and carry a DC 8–36 V power input reference, a span that takes in the nominal 12 V and 24 V systems used in road vehicles.

The catalogue describes the displays as dust and shock resistant; no test standard is cited, so suitability is confirmed for your vehicle installation. Operating temperature is not stated either. Anything fitted inside a passenger vehicle also has to satisfy the operator’s own safety and approval requirements. We supply the information you need for that assessment, while compliance for the vehicle rests with the operator and the installer.

A fleet is a content management problem as much as a hardware one: many screens, always moving, often out of Wi-Fi range. We can scope digital signage content management around how your vehicles return to depot and where they have coverage. Location-based content or a passenger information feed is a separate, defined piece of work under software integrations, subject to the agreed integration.

Installation considerations

Planning the installation

  1. Fitting should be carried out by a competent vehicle installer, in line with the operator’s requirements and the vehicle manufacturer’s guidance for added equipment.

  2. Take power from a suitably fused feed and agree how the display behaves when the ignition is off, so that it does not drain the battery. Supply details are confirmed for your vehicle.

  3. Fix ceiling and pole brackets to structural points. Keep headroom, gangways, exits, hatches, mirrors and safety signage clear.

  4. Position screens for passengers, not the driver. A screen must never distract the person driving.

  5. Check Wi-Fi coverage at the depot and mobile coverage along your routes before choosing how content is updated.

  6. Pilot the installation on one vehicle before committing a fleet, so that bracket, cable route and content timings can be adjusted.

  7. Surveys, fitting and rollout planning can be arranged through our [installation and rollout service](/services/installation-rollout), quoted separately from the hardware.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about bus & taxi advertising displays

Are these displays tested for vibration and dust?

They are described as dust and shock resistant; no test standard is cited, so suitability is confirmed for your vehicle installation. If your vehicles or routes are demanding, tell us, and we will establish what evidence is available for the selected model before you commit.

Will the display run from my vehicle’s electrical system?

A DC 8–36 V input reference is stated for the range, a span that takes in the nominal 12 V and 24 V systems found in road vehicles. The actual connection, including fusing and what happens when the ignition is switched off, is confirmed for your vehicle installation and set out in your quotation.

How is content updated on a moving vehicle?

Wi-Fi and 4G options are listed. A common arrangement is to refresh content over Wi-Fi when vehicles return to the depot, with 4G used where changes are needed during the day. Compatibility of the 4G option with UK mobile networks is confirmed with your quotation, and the content management itself is scoped and quoted separately.

Can the screen show next-stop or route information?

Potentially, but that is an integration project rather than a display feature. It depends on what your vehicle location or passenger information system can share. We can scope the work under software integrations, subject to the agreed integration, and it is quoted separately from the hardware.

Which size suits a bus and which suits a taxi?

The source does not tie any size to a vehicle type. As a guide, the smaller sizes suit a passenger-facing screen in a car, and the larger sizes suit the ceiling of a bus or coach saloon where viewing distances are longer. We advise once we know the vehicle and the mounting position.

Do you fit the screens to our vehicles?

Installation can be arranged through our installation and rollout service, working with a competent vehicle installer and to your own fleet engineering requirements. What is included, and the terms that apply, are set out in your quotation.
