Stretched bar displays

Kiosk Craft Stretched Bar Display

Family reference Ref KC-D07

Ultra-wide stretched bar display in a slim black frame seen from the front, suited to shelf edges and overhead signage
Example design and example on-screen content shown

Some of the most useful advertising positions are too narrow for a standard screen: the edge of a shelf, the band above a servery, the strip over a doorway. Stretched bar displays fit those spaces, and we record the exact format of each size so your content is designed to the right shape.

Overview

About this range

A stretched bar display is a long, shallow screen, several times wider than it is tall. It goes where a conventional display cannot: along a shelf edge at eye level, above a counter where ceiling height is tight, or across the head of an aisle. Because it sits right beside the product or the point of decision, even a small bar can carry a price, an offer or a direction at the moment it matters.

The catalogue lists sixteen sizes from 19.5 to 80 inch, with 300-nit and 700-nit brightness references, wall-mount or open-frame formats and a black or white finish. Playback is by HDMI input from your own player, or from an Android or Windows configuration. The open-frame format is a module for building into shelving, fixtures or kiosks rather than a finished cased unit.

One point needs care with this product type. Bar displays do not share a common shape: each size has its own aspect ratio and pixel resolution, and the catalogue prints neither. We do not estimate them. The format is recorded separately for every configuration and confirmed with your quotation, before any artwork is produced, so that your designer works to the true pixel dimensions.

Many small screens are only manageable with the right software. We can scope digital signage content management for scheduling prices and promotions across a run of shelf-edge screens, and layouts can be prepared through our design and branding service. Used above a servery, a bar display can also form part of a digital menu board.

Installation considerations

Planning the installation

  1. Measure the length and height of the space and tell us both. Allow room at one end for cable entry and leave ventilation gaps as advised for the selected size.

  2. Shelf-edge fixing depends on your shelving system. No shelf bracket is shown in the source, so the fixing method is assessed and agreed per project.

  3. An open-frame module is not a finished product on its own. It needs an enclosure or fixture around it, and we supply the cut-out and fixing dimensions with your quotation.

  4. Artwork must be made to the confirmed pixel dimensions. Standard widescreen video will not fill a bar display without being re-laid out.

  5. A run of small screens along an aisle needs planned power and data distribution. Agree the cable route with your shopfitter before the screens arrive.

  6. Fixing and commissioning can be arranged through our [installation and rollout service](/services/installation-rollout), quoted separately from the hardware.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about stretched bar displays

What resolution and aspect ratio does a stretched bar display have?

It differs for every size. Bar displays do not follow one standard shape, and the catalogue prints neither the aspect ratio nor the resolution. Rather than estimate, we record both for the specific configuration and confirm them with your quotation, so artwork is produced to the true pixel dimensions.

Can I show my existing widescreen adverts on a bar display?

Not without adapting them. Standard widescreen content is far taller in proportion than a bar display, so it would either be cropped heavily or shown small with empty space beside it. Content is normally re-laid out for the bar format, and our design and branding service can do this once the pixel dimensions are confirmed.

What is the difference between the wall-mount and open-frame formats?

The wall-mount format is a cased unit intended to be fixed to a wall or fascia and seen as it is. The open-frame format is a module designed to be built into something else, such as shelving, joinery or a kiosk header, and needs that surrounding structure to be complete. Which sizes are offered in each format is confirmed with your quotation.

Should I choose 300 or 700 nits?

For ordinary indoor lighting, the lower level is usually comfortable at close range. Brightly lit stores, positions near windows and screens viewed from further away benefit from the higher level. Availability of each level differs by size, so we confirm the options for the size you select.

Can stretched bar displays be fitted in buses or trains?

The catalogue names buses and metro carriages as applications, but it states no vehicle power input or vibration resistance for this range. We therefore treat any vehicle installation as something to assess, including the power arrangement and fixing. Our bus and taxi advertising displays are the range described for vehicle use.

Is content software included with the display?

The display plays content from an HDMI source or from its Android or Windows configuration. Content management is a separate piece of work: we scope it around the number of screens, sites and people involved, and it is described and quoted separately from the hardware. See digital signage content management.
