Overview

About this range

The Kiosk Craft Digital Signage Media Player is a small aluminium-cased computer that sits behind or near a screen and feeds it content over HDMI. It suits displays that accept an HDMI source but have no built-in player: video walls, open-frame monitors, stretched bar displays used as monitors, and screens you already own.

The catalogue lists Android and PC-based players, with quad-core and octa-core units and PC configurations that run from entry to high-performance processor options. A looping playlist of images needs far less than a multi-zone layout with video and live data, so the right tier depends on the content. Tell us what the screen has to show and we will advise.

Wi-Fi and mobile data are listed as available, and the pictured units also carry wired network and USB ports, which differ from model to model. Compatibility of the mobile-data option with UK networks is confirmed with your quotation.

The player is hardware only: no content management or remote management software is included as standard. How content is scheduled, updated and monitored is scoped separately as digital signage content management, and any link to your menu, pricing or stock data is handled as an integration. Hardware, software development and ongoing management are quoted separately.

Installation considerations

Planning the installation

  1. Check that the display has a free HDMI input and find out its native resolution before the player is specified.

  2. Decide where the player will sit: behind the screen, inside a cabinet or in a nearby comms cupboard. Fixing method and cable lengths follow from that.

  3. The player needs its own power outlet and ventilation. Do not seal it into an unventilated void behind a screen.

  4. Choose the network route early: wired, Wi-Fi or mobile data. Check Wi-Fi coverage or mobile signal at the exact position, not just in the room.

  5. Agree how content will be updated and who is responsible for it before installation, because that determines the software to be scoped.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about digital signage media players

Do we need a media player at all?

Only if the display does not have a player built in. Many of our advertising displays are listed with Android or Windows configurations of their own. A separate player suits screens that only accept an HDMI source, such as video walls, open-frame monitors and displays you already own.

Should we choose an Android or a PC-based player?

It depends on the software and content. Android players generally suit scheduled images and video from a signage content management system. PC-based players suit heavier content, or desktop software that will not run on Android. Tell us what you plan to run and we will advise, then confirm the operating system and version with your quotation.

Is content management software included?

No. The player is hardware only. Content management, remote monitoring and any integration with your own data are scoped around your project and quoted separately, so that you only pay for the software you need.

Can one player drive more than one screen?

The catalogue does not state the number of display outputs, and one diagram shows a separate player for each screen of a two-screen strip. We therefore treat multi-screen and synchronised playback as requirements to assess, and confirm the arrangement for your layout with your quotation.

Will the mobile-data option work in the UK?

Mobile data is listed as available, but the catalogue does not give the supported bands. We confirm compatibility with UK networks for the selected player with your quotation. The SIM and data plan are arranged separately.

What about price, lead time and warranty?

Kiosk Craft is quote-led. The price, lead time, warranty and support terms for your configuration and quantity are set out in the quotation, with hardware, software development and ongoing management quoted separately.
