Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions we are asked most often about kiosks, displays, software and how a project runs. Anything not covered here is confirmed with your quotation, or you can email info@kioskcraft.com.

Choosing screen sizes

How do I choose the right screen size?

Work from the content and the viewing distance. For a touch kiosk used at arm's length, 15.6 to 32 inch screens cover most ordering and check-in tasks: smaller screens suit short menus on a counter, and larger portrait screens suit long menus with photographs. For advertising displays seen from across a room or a street, size follows the viewing distance and the space available, and our display ranges run from 10.1 inch wall screens to 98 inch formats. Measure the position, note how far away people will stand and how much needs to be on screen at once, then read how to choose a self-service kiosk or contact us for advice.

What screen sizes do your ordering kiosks come in?

The ordering kiosk range is described from 15.6 to 43 inch at range level. The designs pictured run from 15.6 to 32 inch: 15.6, 21.5 and 24 inch for countertop units, 15.6 to 32 inch for wall-mounted units, and 15.6, 21.5, 24, 27 and 32 inch for freestanding units. A size range does not mean every size is offered in every enclosure design, so the sizes available for the design you choose are confirmed with your quotation.

What sizes are available for advertising displays?

It depends on the range. Indoor freestanding displays are described from 21.5 to 96 inch, wall-mounted displays from 10.1 to 98 inch, high-brightness shop window displays from 32 to 98 inch and outdoor displays from 21.5 to 98 inch. Specialist formats have their own size lists, including stretched bar displays, lift screens and video wall panels from 46 to 75 inch. Each product page lists the sizes stated for that range, and availability for your configuration is confirmed with your quotation.

Should the screen be portrait or landscape?

Portrait suits menus, lists, posters and full-height images, which is why most ordering kiosks and digital posters are shown in portrait. Landscape suits maps, forms, video and content originally made for television or the web. Some ranges support either orientation, and the portable battery touchscreen display rotates between the two. Decide before content is designed, because artwork made for one orientation rarely works in the other, and tell us if you need both so that it can be confirmed for the model you choose.

Do I need a 4K screen, and what does 4K mean here?

Full HD means 1920 × 1080 pixels and 4K UHD means 3840 × 2160. At kiosk sizes and arm's-length use, Full HD is normally sharp enough for menus and forms. 4K earns its place on large screens viewed up close, such as interactive whiteboards and big information kiosks, and for fine detail such as maps. Be careful with the wording: some wide or tall display formats are described as 4K but use non-standard pixel sizes such as 3840 × 1350, and some ranges are offered as Full HD or 4K-class options, with the exact resolution confirmed for your configuration. Always ask for the pixel dimensions before artwork is produced.

Does a bigger screen make a kiosk harder to use?

It can. On a tall portrait screen, anything placed near the top may be out of comfortable reach for a seated user or a shorter person, and a large screen on a counter can block the view between staff and customers. The answer is usually in the software design rather than a smaller panel: keep essential controls in the lower part of the screen, use large text and clear contrast, and avoid time limits that rush people. Ask us for the height of the touch area on the design you are considering, and raise accessibility when the software is scoped.

Mounting

What mounting options are available?

It depends on the product range, and an option shown for one range does not automatically apply to another. Ordering kiosks are described in countertop, wall-mounted and freestanding versions. Indoor advertising displays come on floor stands, wheeled stands or wall mounts. Shop window displays are described as ceiling-hung or on a floor stand, and outdoor displays as wall-mounted, floor-standing or ceiling-mounted. Can any wall take a wall-mounted kiosk or display?

No. The wall has to carry the weight of the unit and cope with people pressing on a touchscreen. Solid masonry, blockwork and stud partitions behave very differently, and a partition wall may need reinforcing behind the finish. Before ordering, find out what the wall is made of and what runs inside it, and check how far the unit will project into a walkway. We confirm the weight and fixing details of the selected model with your quotation so that your builder or shopfitter can assess the wall. See installation and rollout.

Do freestanding kiosks need to be fixed to the floor?

Floor fixing should be assessed for every freestanding unit in a public space. A tall, slim kiosk can be pushed, leaned on or knocked by a trolley, so stability matters. Outdoor freestanding kiosks are pictured on pedestal bases designed to be bolted down. For indoor units the right answer depends on the design, the base plate, the floor construction and whether your landlord allows fixings. Tell us about the floor and any restrictions, and we will advise on the options for the design you choose.

Can we move a kiosk or display after installation?

Countertop kiosks, displays on wheeled stands and the portable battery touchscreen display are the easiest to reposition. Freestanding units can be moved, but floor fixings, power and network points have to move with them. Wall-mounted units involve the most work, because the old position needs making good and the new wall needs assessing. If you expect your layout to change, say so at the start, because it may steer you towards a different form.

Can displays be hung from the ceiling?

Ceiling mounting is described for the high-brightness shop window range, for double-sided displays, for the outdoor display range and for bus and taxi screens. It is not an option we assume for other ranges. A suspended screen needs a structural fixing point that can carry the load, which a lightweight suspended ceiling grid is not designed to provide, plus a route for power and data from above. Ask your builder or landlord about the structure over the position before choosing this format.

Indoor and outdoor use

What is the difference between an indoor and an outdoor display?

Brightness and protection. Indoor displays are described at around 300 to 450 nits and have indoor casings. Outdoor displays are described in 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500-nit configurations with a brightness sensor, galvanised steel construction, an outdoor powder-coated finish and cooling by fan or air-conditioning, with heating optional. IP65 protection and operation from −30 °C to 45 °C are stated for the outdoor range and confirmed for the selected model with your quotation. Those ratings never apply to indoor products. Can I put a standard indoor screen in my shop window?

You can, but it will be hard to read in daylight. A standard indoor screen at 300 to 450 nits is designed for controlled lighting, and in a window it competes with the sun and with reflections on the glass. The shop window range is described at 1,000 to 2,500 nits for that reason, in 32 to 98 inch sizes, single or double-sided. Choose the brightness according to which way the window faces and how shaded it is, and allow ventilation around the screen, because sunlight through glass builds heat.

Can a high-brightness window display be used outside?

No. A window display is an indoor product. It is bright enough for daylight but has no protection against rain, dust or frost, so it stays inside the glass. The same applies to the high-brightness open-frame module, which is a component designed to be built into a separate waterproof enclosure and is not weatherproof by itself. For positions outside the building, look at the outdoor display and outdoor kiosk ranges.

Do you supply kiosks for outdoor ordering and payment?

Yes. There are outdoor freestanding and outdoor wall-mounted payment kiosk ranges, pictured in sizes from 15.6 to 32 inch depending on the design. The outdoor freestanding range is described with an 80 mm thermal printer, a QR scanner, a payment-terminal bracket on the side or front, Android or Windows, and IP65 weather protection. Environmental ratings are model-specific, so the rating and operating temperature range for the design you select are confirmed with your quotation, along with the fixing and power requirements.

How do outdoor units cope with sun, heat and cold?

The outdoor display range is described with a brightness sensor that adjusts the screen to the light, ventilation by fan or air-conditioning, and optional heating for cold sites. Anti-glare and UV-protective glass treatments are described as options. Position still matters: shade from a canopy or a building reduces glare and heat, and a screen facing the low afternoon sun is the hardest case. Tell us the orientation and exposure of each position so that the right configuration can be specified.

Can outdoor displays include EV charging or solar power?

We treat EV charging and solar power as bespoke project options only, not as standard products. Each involves electrical design and site surveys, and EV charging brings its own regulations and installation work, so it is assessed as a project in its own right. If this is of interest, describe the site and what you want to achieve when you request a quote, and we will tell you what can be assessed.

Touch options

Do I need a self-service kiosk or a digital display?

Ask whether people need to do something or only see something. A display shows content: promotions, menus, information or queue numbers. A kiosk lets a customer complete a task, such as ordering, paying, checking in or finding a route, so it adds a touchscreen, software and often a printer, a scanner or a bracket for a card terminal. You may need both, for example menu boards above the counter and ordering kiosks in the queue area. If you are unsure, find your solution asks a few questions and points you to the right ranges.

What touch technologies do you offer?

It varies by range. Ordering kiosks are stated with 10-point projected capacitive (PCAP) touch, the glass-fronted technology familiar from phones. All-in-one information kiosks are listed with 10-point infrared or PCAP touch. Interactive whiteboards use 20-point infrared touch for writing and gestures. On indoor freestanding displays, touch is an option using infrared, capacitive or touch-foil technology, and touch is also described as available on outdoor displays, transparent showcases and open-frame monitors. The touch technology for your chosen model is confirmed with your quotation.

What is the difference between PCAP and infrared touch?

Projected capacitive (PCAP) touch senses a finger through a sheet of glass. It gives a flat front that is easy to wipe clean and responds to a light touch, which suits ordering and payment kiosks. Infrared touch uses a frame of light beams just above the glass, so it detects anything that breaks the beams, including a gloved finger or a stylus. That suits large formats such as whiteboards and big information screens, at the expense of a slightly raised bezel. The right choice depends on the screen size, the environment and what people will be touching it with.

Can touch be added to a display later?

It is better decided at the start. Touch is normally part of how the screen is built: the glass, the sensor and the controller are built in during manufacture, and the casing is designed around them. Where a range lists touch as an option, it is specified when the unit is ordered. If you think a display may become interactive later, tell us now. It can make more sense to order a touch version and run it as a display at first than to replace the unit.

Will the touchscreen work with gloves or wet hands?

It depends on the touch technology and how it is tuned, so it should be tested rather than assumed. Infrared touch responds to anything that interrupts its beams, including gloves. Capacitive touch depends on the glove material and the sensitivity settings, and water on the glass can cause false touches on some screens. If your kiosk is outdoors, in a cold store or used by people wearing work gloves, tell us at the start so that it becomes a stated requirement, and ask for it to be tested on the model you will receive.

Branding

Can kiosks be supplied in our brand colours?

Ordering kiosks are described in white or black as standard, with other colours available as a custom option. Several display ranges are also described in black, white or a custom colour, and the outdoor display range lists custom logo, colour and style. A custom colour is part of the build specification, so it needs an exact colour reference from you and is agreed before the order is placed. What is possible for the specific model, and any effect on timing, is confirmed with your quotation.

Can you add our logo or printed graphics?

Yes, this can be assessed for most enclosures. Options typically include a printed or vinyl logo on the casing, vinyl graphics on the body of a freestanding unit, or a header sign above the screen on designs that include one. Lift screens are described with logo printing below the screen. Supply vector artwork and your brand guidelines, and tell us whether the graphics need to be replaceable for campaigns. Can the on-screen experience match our brand?

Yes. When software is scoped for your project, the screens are designed with your colours, typography, photography and tone of voice, not just your logo on a template. That includes the attract screen that plays when the kiosk is idle, receipts and tickets, and the content on any collection screens or menu boards in the same system. Provide brand guidelines and example materials at the start. On-screen design is part of the software quotation, which is separate from the hardware quotation.

Can you supply a completely custom kiosk enclosure?

Customisation is described across the ranges, from colour and logo through to built-in options such as cash or coin acceptors, card dispensers, cameras and microphones on ordering kiosks. A fully custom enclosure is a bigger undertaking: it needs drawings, agreement on every component and usually a sample before a batch is made. We assess requests like this case by case, and will tell you plainly if an existing design with custom finishes would meet the need with less risk. Start by describing what the standard designs cannot do for you.

What artwork do you need from us?

For casings and vinyl: vector logo files, exact colour references and your brand guidelines. For on-screen design: your fonts, photography, icons and any existing app or website designs you want the kiosk to match. For signage content: images and video at the exact pixel size and orientation of each screen, which we confirm for your configuration. If you do not have some of these, tell us, and the design and branding work can be scoped to include them.

Operating systems

Which operating systems do your kiosks and displays run?

Most ranges are offered in Android or Windows configurations. Ordering kiosks are described with Android or Windows, information kiosks and interactive whiteboards with Windows or Android, and many advertising displays with Android, Windows or simple USB playback. Linux is described for some components, such as the high-brightness open-frame module. The supported platform version is confirmed with your quotation, because the right version depends on the hardware configuration and on the software you plan to run.

Should I choose Android or Windows?

Let the software decide. Android suits dedicated, single-purpose applications such as ordering, signage playback and check-in. Windows suits software that already exists for Windows, integrations that rely on Windows drivers or peripherals, and demanding applications such as the AI interaction kiosk, which is specified with a high-performance graphics PC configuration. If your software is being built for the project, the platform is chosen during scoping, along with the peripherals it has to support.

Which version will we get, and what about updates?

The supported platform version is confirmed with your quotation rather than assumed from a brochure. Ask three questions: which version will be installed, how security and application updates will be delivered, and what happens when that version reaches the end of its support. For kiosks in public spaces we recommend that devices run in a locked-down mode, so customers cannot leave the application, and that update responsibilities are written into the support arrangement.

Can we install our own software on the hardware?

In most cases, yes. The hardware runs Android or Windows platforms, so existing applications can often be installed, subject to the platform version, the screen size and orientation, and driver support for any printer, scanner or reader your software uses. A hardware capability does not prove that your software already supports it, so we recommend testing your application on a sample unit of the chosen configuration before a rollout. Can a display work without Android or Windows?

Yes. Several display ranges are described with USB standalone playback, where media files on a USB stick play in a loop, and some with an HDMI input, so the screen simply shows what a connected device sends. USB playback suits a single screen whose content rarely changes. It offers no scheduling or central updates, so for several screens or sites a networked player is usually the better route. A separate media player can also drive a screen over HDMI.

Software scope

Do you supply software as well as hardware?

Yes. Kiosk Craft supplies the hardware and designs and builds the software around it, so that the two work together for your business. Software is scoped per project rather than sold as a fixed package: bespoke kiosk software, digital signage content management, restaurant ordering, integrations with systems you already use, and AI-assisted sales management. Hardware, software development and ongoing management are described and quoted separately, so you can see exactly what each covers. You can also buy hardware only and run your own software.

What does bespoke software mean in practice?

It means the software is developed around your requirements instead of you adapting to a fixed product. We start with discovery: the task, the users, the sites and the systems involved. A written scope then sets out what will be built and what is excluded, and development proceeds in stages you can review, tested on the hardware you will install. Bespoke does not mean unlimited: what is delivered is what the agreed scope describes. Our guide to commissioning bespoke kiosk software lists the questions to ask.

Can I buy hardware only?

Yes. If you already have software, or a developer, we can supply and configure hardware without it. Tell us the operating system, screen size and orientation your software expects and which peripherals it supports, such as a specific type of printer or scanner, so that a matching configuration can be confirmed with your quotation. We recommend testing your software on a sample unit before a wider rollout, because hardware capability alone does not prove that your application supports it.

What do you mean by AI solutions?

We mean software that helps a business manage and grow its sales, with AI assisting specific tasks rather than replacing people. Examples that can be scoped include suggesting relevant add-ons during an order, summarising sales patterns across sites, or helping staff follow up enquiries. Each project is scoped around your sales process and your data, with clear limits on what the system may decide by itself. It is developed per project, not supplied as a finished product. Can the software connect to our existing till, booking or stock system?

Often, but it has to be assessed system by system. An integration depends on whether your existing system offers a documented interface, whether its vendor will grant access, and what information needs to flow in each direction. We look at this early in scoping, because integrations are usually the biggest unknown in a project. Until an integration has been assessed and agreed, we describe it as a requirement, not a promise. Who owns the software you build for us?

Ownership and licence terms are agreed in writing before development starts and are set out in the software quotation. The points to settle are who owns the source code and designs, what licence you receive, which third-party components or services the software depends on, and who holds the hosting and distribution accounts. We would rather answer these questions at the start than leave them to assumption, so please raise them in the first conversation.

Content updates

How do we update what is on our screens?

There are three broad routes. The simplest is USB playback: copy files to a USB stick and plug it into the screen, which suits one screen with content that rarely changes. The second is a networked player, built into the display or supplied as a separate media player, which receives content and schedules over the network. The third is content driven by your own data, such as the menu and pricing held in your ordering system. Digital signage content management is scoped around how many screens you have and who needs to update them.

Can our own staff change menus, prices and promotions?

That is the aim. When content management is scoped, we agree who needs to change what: for example, head office controlling the brand and the core menu, and local managers changing prices, offers or sold-out items within limits. Roles, approval steps and templates keep routine changes quick and consistent. How quickly a change reaches each screen depends on the design of the system and the network, so tell us where timing matters, such as marking an item as sold out during service.

What content formats and sizes should we prepare?

Prepare images and video at the exact pixel size and orientation of each screen. Full HD is 1920 × 1080 and 4K UHD is 3840 × 2160, but stretched, wide and tall formats use their own pixel sizes, and some ranges are offered as Full HD or 4K-class options, with the exact resolution confirmed for your configuration. We confirm the pixel dimensions and the supported file types for your chosen model and player before design work starts, which avoids stretched or cropped artwork.

Can content change by time of day or by location?

Yes, scheduling can be scoped into content management: breakfast and lunch menus, weekday and weekend offers, opening-hours messages, or different content for each site or group of screens. It needs a networked player rather than USB playback, a reliable clock on each device and a clear naming scheme for screens and locations. Tell us the schedule you have in mind, including who should be able to override it on the day.

What happens to the screens if the internet goes down?

It depends on how the system is designed, so it is worth specifying. A sensible design keeps content stored on the player, so screens carry on showing the last schedule they received and catch up when the connection returns. Content that depends on live data, such as order numbers or stock levels, needs an agreed fallback. Ask any supplier what each screen shows when it is offline, and how you would know it had lost its connection. We treat both as scoping questions.

Multi-location projects

Can we manage kiosks and screens across several sites from one place?

Central management can be scoped for estates of kiosks and displays: grouping devices by site and purpose, publishing content or menu changes to a group, and seeing which devices are online. What is practical depends on the platform inside each device and the network at each site. We do not claim a single finished platform that fits everyone. The kiosk management page describes what can be included, and ongoing management is quoted separately from hardware and software development.

Can each site have its own prices, menus or opening hours?

Yes, that can be designed in. A common structure is a shared core, such as the brand, layout and main menu, with local differences layered on top: prices, a few local items, opening hours, languages or promotions. Decide who is allowed to make local changes and whether they need approval. It helps to list the differences between your sites before scoping starts, because they shape the data structure underneath.

How should we roll out across several sites?

Pilot first. Install one representative site, run it with real customers and real content, and fix what you learn in the specification, not site by site. Then roll out in batches with a repeatable package for each site: survey, preparation of power, network and fixings, installation, testing and staff handover. Keep a record of which device is where. What do we need from the network at each site?

Each networked kiosk or player needs a reliable connection, wired where possible. Your IT team will want to know which addresses and ports the devices need to reach, whether they sit on a separate part of the network from tills and office computers, and how any remote access is controlled. Mobile data is described for some media players and transport screens, which helps where a site has no usable network. These details are worked out during scoping so they can be agreed before installation day.

Should every site have the same hardware?

As far as the buildings allow. Standardising on a small number of models, sizes and orientations makes content production, spares, training and support simpler. Sites still differ: one may need a wall-mounted kiosk where another has room for freestanding units, and a sunny window needs a brighter screen than an interior wall. A sensible approach is a short approved list, for example one kiosk design in two forms and two display sizes, which each site then draws from.

Payments

Can your kiosks take card payments?

Kiosks can be configured for card payment, but the card terminal and merchant services come from your payment provider unless separately agreed. Ordering kiosks are described with payment-terminal brackets, and some designs are pictured with a terminal fitted, but a picture does not mean a terminal is included, and a bracket does not prove compatibility with every terminal model. Taking payment also needs the kiosk software to be integrated with the terminal, which follows your provider's process. Tell us who your provider is at the start. See payment kiosks.

The kiosk has an NFC reader. Does that mean it accepts contactless cards?

No. An NFC reader, described as an option alongside the QR scanner, reads compatible cards and tags for uses such as membership, loyalty or staff identification, when the software supports it. It does not by itself establish bank-card payment acceptance. Contactless card payments are handled by a payment terminal supplied by your payment provider, mounted on the kiosk and integrated with the software through the provider's process.

Which payment providers and terminals are supported?

We do not publish a list, because support depends on three things that have to be checked together: whether the terminal physically fits the bracket or cradle on the chosen kiosk design, whether your provider offers an integration method for unattended or kiosk use, and whether the kiosk software has been integrated with it. Tell us your provider and terminal model at the start. If you have not chosen a provider yet, ask candidates specifically about kiosk or unattended payments before you commit.

Can a kiosk accept cash?

Cash and coin acceptors are described as custom-build options for the ordering kiosk range, not as standard features. They make the enclosure larger and add cash-handling procedures: floats, emptying, reconciliation and security. A common alternative is to keep cash at a staffed till and use kiosks for card and app payments only. If cash at the kiosk is essential, say so in your enquiry and we will assess it as a custom requirement.

Can customers pay by QR code or a mobile app?

A built-in QR scanner is described for the ordering kiosk range, so a kiosk can read a code shown on a customer's phone, and a kiosk screen can display a code for the customer to scan. Whether either becomes a payment method depends on your payment provider or app offering that service, and on the software being integrated with it. The scanner is also useful for vouchers, loyalty codes and booking references. As with cards, the hardware is only one part: the integration is scoped and confirmed for your project.

Who is responsible for payment security?

Card data should be handled by your payment provider's terminal and systems, not by the kiosk application. In a well-designed integration, the kiosk software asks the terminal to take a payment and receives a result, without seeing card details. Your payment provider will explain your own obligations as a merchant. We design the software side to follow the provider's integration requirements, and we recommend raising this in the first scoping conversation.

Printers and scanners

Do kiosks include a receipt printer?

An 80 mm thermal printer with an easy paper-roll change is stated at family level for the ordering kiosk range, and is described for the outdoor freestanding range too. Family-level options are not automatically standard on every model, so the printer is confirmed for the design and configuration you choose. Decide what you need to print: receipts, order numbers, tickets or vouchers. Thermal printers need no ink, only thermal paper of the correct width.

Who changes the paper, and what happens when it runs out?

Your staff change the paper, so look at how the printer is reached on the design you choose. The range is described with an easy paper-roll change. Keep spare rolls of the right width and diameter near every kiosk, and make a daily check part of opening up. Ask for the software to handle an empty printer sensibly, for example by showing the order number clearly on screen and alerting staff, so that a missing receipt does not stop service.

What can the built-in scanner read?

The ordering kiosk range is described with a built-in QR scanner, and one catalogue description lists QR codes, barcodes and NFC for the scanner module. In practice that covers vouchers, loyalty cards, booking references, tickets and codes shown on a phone screen. The scanner only reads the code: the software has to know what to do with it, for example checking a voucher against your system. Tell us the code types you use, printed and on screen, so that reading them becomes a tested requirement.

Do you supply kitchen printers and kitchen screens?

Yes, as part of a restaurant system. The restaurant range describes a cashier station, ordering kiosks, a kitchen display or kitchen printer, an order collection screen and optional menu boards. A kitchen can work from a screen, a printer or both, and print timing is configurable: tickets can print when an order is placed or when it is marked as finished. What other peripherals can be built in?

For the ordering kiosk range, cash or coin acceptors, card dispensers, cameras and microphones are described as available by customisation. The AI interaction kiosk has a camera and a noise-reducing microphone built in. Outdoor displays can be built with a thermal printer, QR scanner, NFC reader or payment terminal. Every peripheral needs software support as well as a space in the enclosure, so treat each one as a requirement to be assessed. The ordering peripherals page summarises the family-level options.

Installation planning

Do you install the hardware?

Installation can be included in your project and is described on our installation and rollout page. What is involved depends on the product: a countertop kiosk needs little more than a socket and a network connection, while a wall-mounted unit, a video wall or an outdoor totem needs surveys, fixings and sometimes building or electrical work by your own contractors. The quotation sets out what installation work is included, what you or your contractors need to prepare, and any terms that apply.

What do we need to prepare before installation?

Four things for every position: power, a network connection, a suitable fixing surface and access. Sockets should be where the unit will stand, not a cable run away. The network should be tested at the position, and your IT team should know what the devices need to reach. Walls, floors or ceilings must be able to carry the unit. Finally, agree access times, loading arrangements and any landlord permissions. We confirm the requirements for your chosen models so that preparation can be finished before installation day.

What is involved in installing an outdoor kiosk or display?

More than for indoor units. A freestanding outdoor unit usually needs a concrete base or other foundation with fixing bolts, a protected power supply brought to the base by a qualified electrician, and a data connection, whether cabled or mobile. You may also need permission from your landlord or local planning authority, particularly for illuminated advertising. We provide the base and fixing details for the selected model so that your contractors can prepare the ground, and the environmental ratings for that model are confirmed with your quotation.

Are video walls more complicated to install?

Yes. An LCD video wall is several panels aligned on a frame, so it needs a flat, strong wall or a floor-standing frame, careful alignment, ventilation, space behind for cabling, and a processor or matrix to split the picture. The panels have visible bezels, so there will always be fine lines where they meet, and bezel figures are catalogue-stated values to be confirmed for the finished wall. Plan service access too, so that one panel can be reached without dismantling the rest.

How long do delivery and installation take?

We do not publish lead times, because they depend on the product, the configuration, any custom finish or software work, and the number of sites. The agreed delivery and installation timescales appear in your quotation. If you are working to a fixed date, such as a shop opening or an event, tell us in your enquiry so that we can say honestly whether it looks achievable and which choices would help, for example a standard finish instead of a custom colour.

What happens at handover?

A sensible handover covers testing, training and records. Each unit is checked on site: screen, touch, network, peripherals, and the software with real content or a real menu. Staff are shown the everyday tasks, such as changing paper rolls, restarting a unit and reporting a fault. You should receive a record of what was installed where, along with the configuration details and the contacts for support. What is included for your project is set out in the quotation.

How does the quotation process work?

Tell us what you are trying to do, not just the product you think you need. Use request a quote, or add products to your enquiry as you browse, and include the task, the location, quantities and any systems the solution must connect to. We reply with questions if anything is unclear, then send a written quotation. Hardware, software development and ongoing management are described and quoted separately, and the quotation sets out the agreed specification, pricing, delivery, warranty and support terms.

Why are there no prices on the website?

Because almost everything we supply is configured. The same kiosk design can differ in screen size, finish, operating system, printer, scanner, reader and bracket, and software ranges from none at all to a bespoke build with integrations. A list price would be wrong for most customers. A quotation based on your actual requirement is more useful, and it separates hardware, software development and ongoing management so that you can see what each part covers.

What information do you need to prepare a quotation?

The more of this you can share, the more accurate the quotation: what customers or staff need to do at the kiosk or screen; where it will be installed, indoors or outdoors, with photographs if possible; how many units and sites; the preferred form, screen size and finish; the peripherals you need, and your payment provider if payment is involved; any systems the software must connect to; and any fixed dates. If you are not sure about some of these, say so. Working that out is part of the conversation.

Why do product pages say that details are confirmed with the quotation?

Because we would rather be accurate than impressive. Our product pages describe what is stated for each range, what is available as an option and what depends on the configuration. Details such as the exact resolution, the operating system version, the environmental rating of a specific outdoor model, or whether a given size is available in a given design are confirmed in writing for the configuration you choose. That way the specification you order is the specification you were quoted.

What warranty do you offer?

Warranty terms depend on the product and configuration, so we do not publish a single figure. The warranty that applies to your order, including what it covers and how claims are handled, is set out in your quotation. Support and maintenance beyond the warranty can be arranged and is quoted separately as part of ongoing management. If a particular level of cover matters to you, tell us in your enquiry so that it is addressed in the quotation.

Support

What support do you provide after installation?

Support is arranged to suit the project and described on our support and maintenance page. It can cover hardware faults, software fixes and updates, content or menu changes, and help for your staff. Because every installation is different, we do not publish standard response times or support hours. What should we do if a kiosk or screen stops working?

Start with the basics your staff were shown at handover: check power, the network connection and the paper roll, then restart the unit. If the fault remains, report it through the route agreed in your support arrangement, with the site, the device name, what the screen shows and a photograph if possible. Clear device names and a record of what is installed where make diagnosis much faster. For customer-facing kiosks, agree a fallback in advance, such as ordering at the counter.

Who looks after software updates?

That is agreed as part of ongoing management. Software on a public kiosk needs periodic attention: security updates to the operating system, fixes and improvements to the application, and changes when a connected system or payment provider alters its interface. The arrangement should state who applies updates, how they are tested before reaching live kiosks and when they are installed, so that service is not interrupted at busy times. These terms are set out in your quotation.

Can you monitor our devices remotely?

Monitoring can be scoped as part of kiosk management: for example, seeing whether each device is online, which software version it runs and whether a printer has reported a fault. What is possible depends on the platform in each device and on your network policies, and it needs your IT team's agreement. We do not claim a ready-made remote-control product. We design what is appropriate for your estate and quote it separately as ongoing management.

What about spare parts and consumables?

Consumables are simple: thermal paper rolls of the correct width for kiosk and kitchen printers, and suitable screen-cleaning materials. Keep them on site. For spare parts and replacement units, the approach depends on how critical each device is. A business with several sites may choose to hold a spare kiosk or player so that a failed unit can be swapped quickly. The availability of parts and any spares arrangement are covered in your quotation, not assumed.
