Overview
Some orders are better taken outside the building: at a takeaway hatch, beside an entrance that stays closed out of hours, on the wall of a forecourt shop or at the gate of an attraction. An outdoor wall-mounted kiosk puts a touchscreen, a printer and a card-terminal position on that wall, without a plinth or groundworks.
Five enclosure designs are pictured, with 15.6, 21.5, 24 and 32 inch screen references. They are closed-box designs rather than open stands: the screen is set into the front panel, printer outlets are shown as slots, in one case with a hood, and two designs carry the card terminal in a hooded or shrouded housing at the side. One design has a wide body with a landscape screen; the other four are portrait.
We do not quote an ingress-protection rating, an operating temperature range or a brightness figure for this range as a whole. Outdoor ratings are model-specific. Before we quote, we match a model to your position — fully exposed or under cover, in shade or facing the sun — and the rating, temperature range and screen brightness of that model are set out in your quotation. Until then, none of those figures should be assumed.
Card payments are taken on a terminal from your payment provider, and outdoors the terminal has to suit the position as well as the kiosk. Suitable applications
An ordering point on the outside wall beside a serving hatch, so customers can order and pay before they reach the window. Example application — the order flow to the kitchen is part of the software scope.
A pay point on the wall of a forecourt shop or beside a car park entrance, for example. Any link to pumps, barriers or a parking system is subject to the agreed integration.
Ticket and admission sales on the wall of a gatehouse or ticket office, for example to shorten the queue at the window on busy days.
An order-and-pay point beside a door that is closed to the public out of hours, for example for collection orders. Opening hours, collection and security arrangements are for you to decide; we scope the kiosk and software around them.
Key features
The outdoor wall-mounted group is pictured as five closed-box enclosures: a wide landscape unit, a deep portrait unit, a rounded portrait unit and two portrait units with a side housing for the card terminal.
Each design is pictured in one size: 15.6, 21.5, 24 or 32 inch. Other size and design combinations are assessed on request.
Two designs are pictured with the card terminal in a hooded or shrouded housing at the side of the screen. The terminal itself comes from your payment provider, and the fit is assessed for your model.
A 10-point projected capacitive touchscreen is stated across the ordering range. Tell us if customers will use the screen in the rain or with gloves, so that the touch configuration can be confirmed for the selected model.
80 mm thermal printing and QR code scanning are stated for the range. The pictured outdoor designs show printer outlets as slots beneath the screen, in one case with a hood.
A 13.56 MHz NFC reader function is stated as an option with the scanner, for example for membership or permit cards your software supports. It is not card-payment acceptance.
Black and white finishes are stated for the range, and one outdoor design is pictured in grey. Other colours are a custom option, assessed with the finish requirements of an outdoor position.
For the range as a whole, cameras, microphones, OCR, cash or coin acceptance and card dispensing are listed as custom builds. Outdoors, each one also has to suit the enclosure rating, so every request is assessed.

Installation considerations
Tell us about the position first: fully exposed or under cover, the direction it faces and how much direct sun it gets. The model, and therefore the rating, is matched to that position.
The wall must be able to carry the unit. Weight and fixing details are confirmed with your quotation, and fixings need to suit an external wall.
Power and network connections to an external wall should be installed by a qualified electrician, with cable entry sealed to suit the enclosure. Entry positions are confirmed per design.
Set the mounting height so that the touch area, the printer outlet and the card terminal can be reached by standing and seated customers.
Plan how paper rolls will be changed and the unit serviced in wet weather, and leave clearance to open the enclosure.
Think about lighting, sight lines and security at the position, particularly if the kiosk will be used out of hours.
Ask your payment provider whether your card terminal is suitable for outdoor use in the position you have in mind.

Two designs are pictured with a hooded or shrouded housing at the side for a terminal, and we assess the fit for your terminal model. A housing does not make a terminal suitable for outdoor use, so check that with your payment provider as well.
